I’m looking to purchase a rain shell as it rains 80% of the time in Vancouver, Canada. The shell will be used mostly when I’m outdoors (shooting competitions, etc), and sometimes in the city.
My criteria is:
– Must be fully waterproof. I will be standing up to 8 hours in the rain at a time.
– Must be thin enough to wear a plate carrier and or a chest rig and war belt around it without having to adjust for a new size.
I’m currently looking at the Arc’teryx LEAF Alpha and the Arc’teryx LEAF Alpha LT. I know the LT is thinner, but that’s about all I know. I haven’t had a chance to compare the two in person.
A much cheaper option is the 5.11 Tac Dry Rainshell – but I don’t know how well it works. I will pretty much need the garment to withstand a downpour for extended periods.
Any other suggestions?
