So my new Charge TTi has just arrived with the postman (after what seemed a loooong wait ;)) and I’m very exited.
I was nervous after reading/watching videos of people with leatherman products being somewhat not up to the specs (stiff tools, loose tools, ecc) but luckily mine seems to be perfect.
I own a Swisstool and it is a very nice tool, but I “needed” to add something else to my tool set (I don’t think I need to explain you the reasons behind buying a Charge while having a Swisstool already, or any other multitool for matters ;)).

So, the Charge is a beauty, I can’t stop opening and closing it, but I was wondering: when my swisstool arrived it was pretty much oiled, you can see oil over all of the tools, while this leatherman seems “dry”. Should I oil it already?
Just the last day I’ve cleaned my swisstool with a WD-40 clone* (and my squirt PS4 which was showing points of rust, at least this is what I thought, but after spraying it the specs went away so probably they weren’t rust after all) do I have to do that to the new charge to prevent rust ? I won’t be using the blades for food anyway, so it’s not a problem from that point of view.

Also, as a general rule, is it OK to use the WD-40 clone to maintain these tools?

I’ve also oiled the swisstool afterwards, but I didn’t do that to the Squirt, should I oil it also?

Anyway, let me say I’m very pleased by the new toy, I’ll be carrying it in the next days so I’ll be able to try it out “in the field” and see if it works well.
I find the bit holder to be especially useful, let’s see if it really is when I need it, I may need the bit extender too, but since I own a dremel (a proxxon, actually) I thought I may as well hack a generic one to fit the charge, it’s much more fun right? :)

    Ciao,
    Danilo
