    Hi Guys,

For some studies I am currently doing I would like to do a literature review of articles related to the effectiveness of tourniquet use for control of catastrophic bleeding in the pre-hospital environment.

In Australia the clinical instructions for the state I live in are direct pressure followed by applying another dressing over the first. Outdated and ineffective I know.

The Australian Resuscitation Council which all first aid courses in Australia are based upon has started to implement tourniquet use for uncontrolled bleeding but only after direct pressure followed by a second dressing followed by……wait for it……taking off the first 2 dressings, blowing off the clot, using all the bodies clotting factors so that you can check to make sure there are no other wounds you have missed and then applying a TQ.

So if any of you have any links to articles related to TQ use in the emergency setting as well as anything on haemostatic agents I would greatly appreciate it if you could post a link thus shortening my research time and making life easier.

Haemostatic agents are not used in the pre-hospital setting here either.

    Thanks
