this fak goes w/ me backpacking/day hiking/fishing/hunting- also goes into my 24 and 72 hour kits
I wanted something light, but more capability beyond a couple of bandaids- I’ve owned several pre-assembled kits, but none w/ what exactly I wanted- the lighter ones were under stocked, the heavier ones over stocked and still didn’t contain everything I wanted, so I made my own
the kit is housed in a clear 6×9″ waterproof Aloksak, contains a small roll of gauze, 12 cc curved tip irrigator, 2 4×4.5 tegaderm bandages, pack of 10 1/4 x4 steri-strips, two triple antibiotic creams, 3 2g Celox (hemostatic agent), 2′ of Leukotape (wrapped around a section of a straw), 2 vials of tincture of benzoin- the Leukotape/Benzoin is for blister care- far better than the old standby- Moleskin, amount varies by trip length, but ibuprofen, acetaminophen, benadryl and imodium are always carried
my repair kit also has several items that double as FAK pieces- duct tape, needle, safety pins, super glue, alcohol prep pads
my small SAK Classic has tweezers and scissors, lots of other carry items would serve as FAK bits as well- Buff (in lieu of a bandana), trekking poles, etc
the FAK weighs 2.7 oz, the repair kit 0.9 oz
