In mid March I’m going on a church youth-group retreat, with aprx 10-15 teenagers , as on of the chapperones. The retreat is at an adventure themed location that offers ropes initiative courses and rock climbing in addition to more ordinary things like basketball/volleyball etc.

This particular facility requires that all groups either pay for the facility to provide medical staff, or the group may provide their own (EMT/Nurse/Doc). I will be serving in this capacity as well. I am an LPN/EMT-B (IVT).

My question to you, the ever prepared, infinitely helpful members of this forum, is what gear (medical) do you think is indicated?

I will have, as always, the BLS+ bag from my POV. This bag contains mostly pedestrian stuff, i.e. Kerlix, 4x4s, saline, band-aids, BP cuff, stethoscope, pulse ox, airway stuff, lots of tape and a SAM splint. The “+” part comes from medications for “personal” use (ASA, Naproxen, Benadryl) .

Using this trip as an excuse, I bought a StatPacks Transverse thigh rig in black. The intent here is to carry a few basic supplies on my person when we’re doing activities. In the case is a bunch of 4x4s, 2 rolls cling, a few airways, CPR mask, band aids, Abx ointment some triangular bandages. These items will be carried when engaged in the activites in addition all of my other EDC.

    What do you think? :winkwink:
