Hi guys, I’n new but am a jacket fiend and wanted to know what the edc forum thought was the best jacket to have. Seen as my jackets are part of my essential kit I thought id post my thoughts.

Ok, because i’m such a fiend I can’t decide on just one jacket so i’m going to post my two essentials.

Jacket # 1.

Montane Resolute Smock.

This jacket is amazing. Looks good and is super warm with only a tee shirt underneath. Is really waterproof even in a snow storm with snow melt sitting on you. I had the extreme smock before this but the Resolute is really the best jacket to have if you’re stuck in the hills and you want to stay alive. Can’t recommend it enough.

Jacket # 2:

TAD Gear Ranger Hoodie.

You guys are probably more familiar with this jacket and for good reason, It’s fantastic. This hooded fleece looks good and is functional to boot! Warm polartech, DWR coated and stylish this jacket is really the quintessential EDC outerwear. I love them so much I bought 3, Mrs Laughingman was not pleased! This jacket can also form part of a layer system to keep you waterproof in even the coldest wettest weather. I usually wear mine with either my Tad shemagh (pictured) or my merino wool buff. Don’t worry I usually show more of my face when i’m out and about.

So thats it from me, but what do you guys think? What is the best jacket for you guys? What do you look for in a good jacket?
