I have an opportunity for a large discount on a garmin gps and am looking for suggestions on what you have used or would recommend. I am looking at the best of each of these models. Let me know what you thinik
Depends on what it will be used for, gloves or bare hands, mounted on an ATV or in your EDC bag etc. I have an eTrex Legend CX that I am retiring and will replace with a 64s or 62s (discontinued now but still available at some places). Touch screen models don’t work as well for me as I use it on my ATV in the winter with gloves on.
That’s a good point it will be used outdoors all times a year for hunting, hiking, etc. May have to think more about the 64s it almost seemed to be easier to use with the buttons than the touch screens anyway. I have a test model of each right now
I just picked up a 62s (reconditioned) for $250 this weekend. I used it for a night ride and it worked flawlessly!
I have a Garmin Oregon 550t which is now discontinued and replaced by the current 600 and 650 series. I like it and if lost would certainly replace with another Oregon or perhaps look at the larger Montana series. The Monterra intrigues me with the Android capabilities but I think I would be inclined to hold out for a 2nd generation version of a new platform.
After talking to the guy I know at garmin and getting a large discount I ended up getting the Montana 680t. I look forward to messing around with it a little more and seeing what all it can do.
