I was inspired by the Skinth SP to make my own sheath. It was my first time doing anything like this. It took a while to get used to the sewing machine. Anyway, I thought that it would be a fun project.
This sheath was designed to fit my Droid 3 with it’s case, along with two writing instruments and some cards and cash (although I’ll probably use the card slot for the Leatherman Micra more than anything else). I found some ugly, pink felt that I would never use for anything else and began sewing the first prototypes together with that. Once some modifications were made, I sewed a couple decent ones out of some cheesy blackboard fabric that I found at Joann’s.
The “finished” product has a button clasp and 1″ nylon webbing for both vertical and horizontal carry. On the next version, I’ll use a heavy duty nylon fabric and I’ll hem all of the edges. (The hemming on this version would have been too problematic, but I’ve figured it out now.) A magnetic button will be easier to clasp, too. Let me know if you can think of any other improvements! Thanks for looking, guys.
