I have carried flashlights for a long, long time.
Since the start over 40 years ago I guess I have liked having the ability to light things up regardless of the setting I am in.
I carried as a kid at camp and ever since really but up until somewhat recently I was more focused on higher outputs mostly as opposed to thinking about lights in more practical terms.

There is always a brighter light and I always seem to like a brighter light but a few years ago some of my awareness of the flashlight game matured into lower output and run times vs max. output in a daily carry light.

I carry 5 or more lights on my person pretty much all the time and when I need Bright,it is no problem to get it. While working I often do need bright or at least longer ranges which calls for some substantial output and battery life to be practical.
What I have realized though is that differences in brightness at a high level is not as easy to discern for me as differences at low levels.

This is where the Titan comes into play!

I have always loved the Surefire stuff and yet much of it is just too crazy priced for me to try.I have several of the “Lower Hanging Fruit Collection” though and I dearly love each one of them. My G2’s and Outdoorsman and Backup and Aviator always seem to be the lights I take along before others when I need to travel somewhat light.

So when I found the Titan on sale last year for a decent price I snagged a couple of them and I have been using them pretty much every single day/night since then.

I don’t need to talk about the superior construction quality of SF usually but these Titan’s are a different beast somewhat as they are continuously variable output lights.I have and have had others like this and the SF somehow manages to best all of them in “Feel” and solidness, except maybe the HDS Rotary?

Where the Titan really shines(sorry I couldn’t help myself)is in the range of output and the very lowest usable output of all the lights that I have.

During daylight or at night when I need to see like daylight I usually just turn a light on full blast or at a high level to cut through the darkness. I imagine most of us do this?

But for 1/3 of my life I try to sleep too and this is the place the Titan fills the need like no other.
When my eyes are adjusted to darkness I simply need a minimal level of light that the Titan is alone in providing me in a repeatable and reliable manner.

I put it like this as I have other lights like I said each of which have decent low lumen settings but being fixed are not that flexible. I also have variable output lights but not one of them goes as low as the Titan and/or is reliable when doing so.
This includes the Peak which can be flaky on QTC,The ZL which go too low or too high and the HDS Rotary which is amazing but will not go as low as the Titan.
I like the Jetbeam RRT-01 too but it is not nearly as small or rugged to me as the Titan.

So I have found the Titan to be the perfect light when needed at night. While camping or just going to the bathroom it is perfect on its lowest setting every time for my night adjusted eyes!

Then if I do need some real light it is just a quick twist away and plenty bright relative to as low as it can go.

I also have had the same original battery in both of mine since I got them and even blasting full output now and then the battery life is outstanding!

The Titan is so much smaller than the HDS it is crazy and I just don’t know of another light that can do what it does everyday for me.

If you have seen them and wondered, try one.

    It really is a Titan!
