KeymasterOK, another “help me find a pen” thread here. I’ve spent the last couple hours reading the pen and paper section and doing searches, and im not finding what i want so far, or not exactly….
1. stainless steel (might consider aluminum if everything else fits)
2. compact – either telescoping/extending or ….folding? (like a fisher) or just a shorter pen I think 4 inches would be ideal
3. would prefer it not be a clicky because ive had bad luck with clicking them in my pocket then inking my pants.
4. better if its on the thicker side of things……the zebra 301 im using is way too thin for my liking
5. under 25 bucks (might go up to 30 if its tasty enough)
so, what i have considered so far:
1- retro 51 torando. it looks awesome, for the life of me i cant seem to figure out what the length of the larger pen is! if anyone can help me with that, i would appreciate it.
2- retro 51 tornado elite- this really seems to be almost ideal, cept the small size of 3 and 3/8ths inches worries me. i have large ogre hands and im worried that writing with this might feel like writing with a golf pencil. not sure if its long enough to be comfortable.
3- ye old fisher bullet (or xmark). theres no stainless that i can find, just chrome plated…..i hear that can wear off pretty easily. otherwise, to be honest, the fisher is perfect for what i need.
4. fisher trekker…..dont like that the cap wont attach to back of pen, not big on rubber portion. otherwise layout is pretty close
5. zebra compact f-301….ok but the zebras ive used so far feel rather el-chepo, and the 301 is awfully narrow for my meat paws.
6. f701, like everything about the way it looks but its a bit long and its a clicky.
7. jotter. meh……just meh, for some reason, and its clicky
actually, i will most certianly end up ordering a couple of these pens already on this list, im just trying to see if there are any pens that fit the bill that i have missed, and also get extra input from anyone who may have either of the retro 51 pens
