A problem we have here in the UK is that locking knives on multi-tools are not EDC legal. I find the Spirit a great tool but am reticent to carry it because of this. So after a lot of thought, today I ‘repurposed’ the knife and turned it into a number of ‘not-knife’ tools. Instead of one serrated butter knife blade, I now have:
– a spatula
– a mixer (epoxy glue, filler)
– a smooth spreader / applicator
– a card folder
– a smooth, non-marking scraper
– a…I’m sure there are more
The really polished blade allows it to be cleaned quickly.
Not really much to show. The sharp edge and serrations were ground away with a flat Dremel grinding wheel then the edge rounded and polished very smooth with abrasive paper and pads. The edge is completely smooth and blunt. Impossible to cut anything.

I was a bit nervous taking a grinder to the blade but I’m very happy with the result. The ‘no-knife’ Spirit is now more versatile for my needs and much easier to show it’s a legal carry.
I also tend to carry a UK legal pocket knife when appropriate and prefer a simple knife so no loss of utility.
