A very long time ago, I had a Remington 870 that I kept around for home defense. I took it to the range now and then to practice, and once in a while, when pumping fast, it would jam. Not just a round cockeyed, but jammed up good so you had to remove the barrel and take the gun apart. A round would get under the feed plate and it would be an ordel to unjamb it. I found out that Remingtons had a habit of doing this, and Choate sold a part that would help. I sold the gun and went with a double barrel 12 gauge Stevens. Then some years later I added a double barrel Rossi overland with external hammers. A 12 gauge Harrington Richardson is in the hall closet. All my shotguns are break open. I just feel better, like having al my handguns for defense revolvers.

I have wondered if the pump shotguns have gotten better and Remington addressed the issue of the 870 tending to jam when worked very fast?
