KeymasterSo, here is the back story –
On July 26th my 870 took a
. The front piece of the ejector broke off.
This particular 870 has close to 8000rds through it. (Yes, 32 cases or 320 boxes)I had a match the 28th, so I franticly called every single gunsmith within 50 miles.
Not a single one would touch my 870.Called Remington, they were less helpfull than dell.
I made a few phone calls and arranged to borrow a buddies mossberg.
Shot the match, placed in the middle of the pack. (i’m usualy in the top quarter)
I pretty much threw it on the back burner for a month or so.
Untill one monday I was off, and had nothing to do.
I started playing in the garage as I often do, and saw my 870 in the corner.
Drilled the old rivets out in about 15min.
(how do I resize the pic?)At this point I’m thinking “ok, I can probably do this myself”
On Aug 20th I ordered the parts and tools to un-
my beloved 870.
tools – Brownells stock # 080-612-001WB
Parts – numrich (gunpartscorp.com) part numbers
998540 – ejector
95140B – ejector rivet – front
74930C – ejector rivet – rear
95190B – ejector springThe tools arrived the 23rd and the parts on the 25th.
The total for everything shipped was under $85 + spray paint. It took me 10min to do my 870 and a buddies.
Test fired both the next day, not a hitch. (sorry forgot the camera at home)
All in all, I’m happy with the results and i’m proud that I was able to do it on my own.
Update -10/9/12
As an update, Since this post, I’ve put 500 more through RS06319B. (The camo one in the video)
A total count of 750 through that particular firearm. 0 malfunctions since the new ejector was installed.
