I am putting together an outdoors kit and have some questions on camping saws.

I have seen the various folding models, and was wondering if anyone had compared a folding camping saw to a sawzall blade handle and one of the pruning blades that is sold for use in a sawzall?

I mention this cause I have a Milwaukee folding setup that consists of a handle with a quick release mechanism that cane hold any sawzall blade. It is made to hold a 6″ blade when folded, but I could fit a 9″ 5tpi blade in the bag and have a finer tooth blade in the handle, so it could serve double use if needed, cutting steel or other material that the wood blade would not.

Just wondering if the purpose build folding saw would be superior? They have 8″ or so blades but have a handle that is the same length so not quite as pack friendly. Plus if I do happen to wear the blade out or break it, I can just swap out to another. I guess I should research weights.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!
