Not really,Henry reformed the company as HDS Systems and still churns them out and a lot of us are pretty happy with the result in a lot of ways.

Here are a few of mine.
These are all Rotary controlled versions with a smooth rotary interface to adjust level as well as the standard 4 presets of the button presses as well.

The long one uses 2AA cells and the middle version an 18650.

I recently found an old Mini Maglite in the bottom of one of my boxes-o-stuff. Luckily I had removed the batteries before I put it away (as close as I can figure its been about two years), put some fresh batteries and a new bulb in it – I bought a gross of them years ago – and, yep, still underwhelming:p

I have a number of old Surefire incandescent lights. Two A2 Aviators, M4 Devastator, E1 teardrop, a few E1e’s, E1L, E2 Defender and a number other lights that have a special place in my gear evolution history. The E1L is an older 30 lumen LED I got brand new, and it currently has the distinct honor of my emergency car light. I’m sure they’re all very sought after lights for various reasons, but I’ve left them all stock same as when I bought them off the shelf.
