So, this weekend I went to the range and tried out a number of handguns. My wife was enamored of the Ruger SR9C, but the range only had the full-size SR9 to rent, so she tried that. Turns out she didn’t like it much (she really liked the Glock26), but in a massive twist of fate I found myself to be extremely accurate with it. More accurate, even, than with my Glock19. Like, .22 rifle accurate. The Ruger SR9 in my hands was, I will go out on a limb and say, more accurate than I have ever been with a handgun at 20ft.
Plans at this point are to go back to the range this weekend and perform a somewhat more scientific evaluation of the SR9 vs my G19 vs a G17 versus anything else the range guys might recommend. At that point I may be getting a new Ruger, or a Glock17. The wife may be getting herself a Glock26 too.
Next on the shopping list is a pump shotgun and the parts needed to put together my own AR-15.
