I make these from expanded Remington Goldsaber jackets and various other bullets. The stems are copper or silver wire and the stamens are gold and silver wires that that have been torched to melt a little ball on the end. All the components are silver soldered together.
These are all .40 jackets fired from a roof straight down into a 55 gallon plastic drum filled with water and they don’t even scratch the bottom. I’ve done hundreds and never had a ricochet but I wear a face shield and safety glasses just in case. Water jugs and wet newspaper just doesn’t bloom them as nicely as 4′ of water. The lead core comes out of Goldsabers every time unless they’re bonded. I’ll typically fire 3 or 4 boxes and 90% of them come out perfect.
I’d really like to get my hands on some nicely expanded .45 and .50 caliber jackets of any type without lead in them. If anybody wants to send me some I’d be happy to send half of them back to you as completed flowers.
