I posted this in the compact 9mm thread, but thought I’d break it out into a separate thread to get the attention of the 1911 gurus on here….
OK, so my buddy got a Kimber Stainless Pro TLE II with a 4′ barrel and I shot it. I had never shot a .45 ACP before.
… the trigger pull was so silky smooth, the gun fit really well in my big paws, and controls were close to what I’m used to with the Beretta 92, which is the gun I’ve shot for the past 8 years. I was able to put shots on target much better than I ever would have thought given the recoil of the larger caliber. In fact, I shot my gun along side it and my groups were tighter with the Kimber. Wow.
He told me what he paid and I have to admit there was a little bit of sticker shock on my part. I know Springfield Arms is a little more reasonable. Is it a brand worth exploring or once you’ve shot a Kimber then there’s no going back? Are there other brands I should shop to compare. Just curious.
I read customizing 1911’s can be an addictive hobby…yeah, just what I need…. something else to obsess over. ;D My buddy thought the whole thing was hilarious. Like a drug dealer getting an weed addict hooked on heroin for the first time. He left the range grinning from ear to ear.
