Last week I took a vacation to Colorado. While I was there I wanted to see the site where the radio signal for atomic watches and clocks originated from in the U.S. This is in Fort Collins, Colorado at radio station WWVB. As much as I reasearched before leaving on vacation I could not find an address for WWVB anywhere. The closet I could find was grid coordinates on a site I found on the internet. When we got in Fort Collins I asked a couple of people if they knew where it was and not surprisingly they did not. I put the grid coordinates into Apple maps on my phone and it took me right to it, well to the locked gate on the dirt road leading to it. If it had not been Easter Sunday the gate might have been open, I don’t know that for sure though because a sign said that prearranged visits were possible. Anyway I was able to get pictures of the station and the tower array from a distance. Kinda of a cool little excursion for a geek. Lol
I kinda documented my use of my Casio Rangeman 9400 on the trip on another forum. I will post the thread in case any of you Casio enthusiasts are interested.
