I’ve been looking for a nice lightweight fall jacket. Had my mind all made up on a Mountain Hardwear jacket, a couple of them actually. I was looking for a jacket that was somewhat rain repellant, and only lined with a thin liner. Then I started to think about something…

So many people given me jackets over the years for gifts, why not see if some of them would work. Most times, when the I get the gift the jacket is not for the season I’m in. Then it gets relegated to the closet and kind of forgotten. Eventually the wife will archive the article in the basement with the ‘stuff we don’t wear’ racks to unclutter the closets upstairs. Sadly, many times the next move is to goodwill. So I went looking through the archive and found not one, but three REALLY nice jackets which fit the bill perfectly. One of them is brand new, the other near new and one was (GASP!!!) my mountain climbing guide jacket!!! (It’s only a $600 Gortex jacket!!).

I was looking for a jacket light enough to stuff in my daily EDC pack and still have some room left over. I found three witch fit the bill perfectly! (Well, the guide jacket doesn’t leave a lot of room left over, but it’ll handle any weather known to man (and has)).

I’m happy, but I also feel bad. Here were three really nice jackets, one of them never even worn that I never even paid any attention to. Don’t know were I got the new one, but I almost want to go back and apologize to them and show them how proud I am to wear it now.

And here I was surfing around on the net to buy something new…<thud>
