    Hi,

I posted pics earlier of my EDC first aid kit which is always attached to my work equipment back pack.

    Show me your FAKs.

I mentioned that I have a bigger FAK in my car and another identical one that travels with me in one of the equipment cased when working abroad.

I finally managed to find time to take pictures of the bigger one (compared to the EDC version) and here they are, with descriptions. (Sorry about the language. English isn’t my native language.)

The contents are packed into a Tactical Tailor First Responder bag.

I find that bag to be the correct size. I can fit in all the things I want (barely) and it doesn’t take too much space in the luggage.

In the top compartment I have EMT shears, Leatherman Skeletool, SOG Flash II Rescue knife, small regular scissors and a Petzl headlamp. I’ve also attached one 12 hour glowstick to the exterior “loops” as you can see in the picture.

All fits in, but just barely… It’s still easy to find everything I might need in a rush. (Don’t let the wide angle lens confuse.. :) )

And here’s a picture of almost all of the contents of this FAK. (Not shown in the picture: pulse oximeter and Petzl headlamp.)

Some of the tools and “instruments”:
    – Bolle Cobra protective glasses
    – digital thermometer
    – KaWe penlight
    – anatomic tweezers
    – Leatherman skeletool
    – SOG Flash II Rescue
    – EMT shears
    – small scissors
    – Snaplight safety lightstick (12h)

    – assortment of plasters and disinfectant “wipes”
    – BurnFree sterile burn dressings (10 cm x 10 cm)
    – C-A-T tourniquet (orange, because it really needs to be seen in the extreme situation it is actually used)
    – pressure bandage / israeli bandage / combat bandage
    – sterile gauze pads (10 cm x 10 cm)
    – sterile “adhesive pads” (9 cm x 10 cm), I don’t know the exact term in English
    – nitrile medical gloves (they’re actually in a small plastic bag now)

    – five sizes of “airway tubes” (sizes 1-5)

    – Laerdal Pocket Mask with oxygen connector
    – blood glucose meter + accessories
    – emergency blanket, aka. space blanket (160 cm x 210 cm)
    – instant cold pack

    – roll of adhesive “medical” tape, aka. skin tape
    – triangle bandage
    – tube of glucose pastils (I’m actually planning to replace this with a Glucobooster glucose gel tube)
    – a small container including all “drugs”: 500mg Aspirin, 500mg Panadol, hydrocortisone tablets, Kestine 10mg (antihistamine, allergy medicine) and Imodium (loperamide) for mainly personal use
    – Basibact antibiotic powder for small wounds
    – activated carbon, to be mixed with water
    – BurnFree hydrogel 118mg spray bottle
    – AntiBac hand desinfectant gel
    – 20ml NaCl bottles
    – roller gauze bandages
    – “ideal bandages”, two sizes

That’s about it. Bear in mind that I always also have my EDC kit (link in the beginning of this post) that includes Celox and some other things not found in this kit.

Comments are welcome. And yes, I do have a proper training and I’ve been a member of the local VFD for last 17 years.

So the kit is built based on experience and then some…
