Before I start with my review, let me say that I’m new here and registered in the first place to let you know about Armatus Carry Solutions (at least for those of you who don’t know about Matt already).
If this review belongs in a different section of the forum please move it.

    INTRO:

So, where do I start? After trying out many, many different fixed blades for EDC (I live in Germany so I basically have to carry a fixed blade for legal reasons) I bought my third Izula with the conclusion that it’s basically perfect for what I use my knives for. It’s nearly perfectly sized (but more on that later on), the blade shape and length is excellent and the steel is just awesome. But this injection molded sheath … It was the reason I sold my first one. I mean it’s really secure and probably more temperature resistant than kydex but it rattles all day long. So I decided to purchase a custom made kydex sheath for it! I looked around quite a bit on the interwebs, finding many custom sheath makers, but the Architect Sheath from Armatus Carry Solutions just spoke to me. It had the best looks out of any kydex sheaths I ever saw before and it’s also offered in a wide range of colors and camos. I was about to purchase it in early May 2015 but the long shipping time to Germany stopped me in the end. Oh what a good decision! Me and my family booked a trip to Florida for July 2015 anyway and so I decided to wait with my order and have it delivered to one of our hotels. I then browsed Armatus’s website to finally decide on a color when I saw another product I just had to have: The Vita EDC Wallet! (That’s why I said it was a good decision to wait with my order).
After knowing exactly what I wanted I contacted Matt from Armatus Carry Solutions to ask him if he’d ship to a hotel room. He instantly agreed and it really was a pleasure to deal with him. What a nice guy!
So he made the stuff I ordered basically when I entered the plane to Ft. Myers and a few days later when we were in Orlando, my package arrived! For the rest of the holidays it was nicely packed my suitcase, waiting to be used when I was home again.
Back in Germany, I instantly put my new gear to use and carried it on a daily basis for over half a year.
And now, after all this time, I figured it’s well overdue to review everything.
    So here it goes:

    REVIEW:

All the pictures were taken about a month ago while I was trying to compare my Spartan Blades Enyo and my Izula and I figured I could also shoot some cool photos of Matt’s gear. What you see above is an Armatus Carry Solutions Architect Sheath in “Black Carbon” and another one in “Kryptek Highlander”, as well as a Vita EDC Wallet in Black Carbon!
Both black carbon things were my daily drivers and I used the Highlander for my “Woods-Izula”.

    ARCHITECT SHEATH:

After all this time they just held up great! The sheaths were a bit tight at the beginning but it settled to the point where it’s both, extremely secure yet easy and comfortable to draw. The sheaths are nicely molded for the handles for the Izulas and offer a nice thumb ramp which definitely helps for a nice drawing experience. Even though it’s primarily designed for the micarta handles, a “naked” knife as well as a paracord wrapped one fits in the sheath easily.
The very sturdy taco design offers both strength and a slim profile which is very welcome for an active lifestyle. At the front there is a small hole due to the folding of the kydex which functions as a drainage hole. For my taste this could be a little bit bigger but it definitely gets the job done. Also I found the very tip of the sheath to be a bit pointy when wearing it IWB but this was easily fixed with a dremel. Below the drainage hole you find the first eyelet for neck carry. I usually always have my blades inside my waist band or in my pocket but sometimes when outdoors I find myself carrying my Izula around the neck. With this cleverly placed eyelet this works perfectly fine!
Alongside the cutting edge of the blade you find 6 more eyelets which contribute to the individual and cool looking design as well as a completely free placement of whatever you decide to carry your sheath with. These eyelets have half an inch distance between each other so every possible mounting system I can think of is usable.
Following the line of the sheath we finally come to the milled out space for your index finger. This feature also adds to the overall comfort.
All the edges of both sheaths were nicely polished and seamless. The fit and finish is superb!
With daily carry, the only sign of wear I can see is around the eyelets where their initial black coating came off with the time. But I don’t see this as an issue.
Furthermore both sheaths came with matching MilSpec pull the dot nylon soft loops. These allow for either IWB carry as well as regular belt carry. These loops basically don’t add weight at all while offering a wide range of carry options and security. You cannot pull them open by accident!

    VITA EDC WALLET:

Now onto the EDC wallet. I initially bought it because it looked cool and unique but I honestly didn’t think it would replace a good old leather wallet in the end. But boy was I wrong! The biggest drawback for me was the money. I thought to myself “How da heck are you supposed to carry money with this thing?!” Well, just after having it for a week I was more than used to it! It holds up to 7 credit cards (or credit card sized items) and also closes with a MilSpec loop
But it doesn’t end there: This loop can be used to mount the wallet on a pack or belt without ever having to worry about losing it OR it can be used as a sort of money clip! (Which I ended up using it for) I never ever lost my bills with this method. It may not seem as secure but just 1 or 2 folded bills are thick enough to not move around after they were secured under the loop (though many more can be tugged in there). And my coins? I grew the habit to not take coins with me anymore when leaving the house in the morning. Instead I always have a 5€ bill with me for smaller stuff to buy. When buying my lunch and I get my change back I simply put it in my pocket till I’m home again where I put it into my piggybank. This method works pretty well for me.
OH! And another positive side effect of the EDC Wallet is that I don’t put these thick bulky leather wallets in my back pocket anymore (because this really can ruin your back over time!). Instead I just put it in my left front pocket without noticing it for the rest fo the day. Did I mention that it’s fully weather proof as well?
I received many compliments for it already and people were curious where they could buy one. Sadly though this is coupled with shipping overseas, taxes and a long waiting time for us over here in Europe (lucky Americans!).
Do I still think it’s worth the struggle? Hell ya! In fact: I just received my new Candiru (remember that I said the Izula is “nearly perfectly sized”? Well, guess what, the Candiru is!) which needs a new pair of shoes. (Matt? If you read this, prepare one in black carbon please!)

    CONCLUSION:

So what’s the conclusion I draw after having carried Matt’s stuff for over half a year? It’s just AWESOME! Not only does it look extremely sexy, it also makes me enjoy carrying my EDC gear even more now and it definitely wasn’t the last time I ordered from him. Oh, and everything he makes is backed up with a lifetime warranty so no one ever has to worry about breaking it (which is highly unlikely anyway). And also if he doesn’t offer something you desire, I’m sure he will take care of your custom order! Just contact him!

If you have any further questions or comments please feel free to put them down below and if you decide to get yourself some quality EDC gear from Matt, feel free to tell him I sent you. (Not that I get any sort of discount but I think he might be happy to hear that :))
