Looking for a piano/keyboard for my 7 year old daughter. She passed her grade 2 piano yesterday and is starting to play songs that require a regular size keyboard. My wife and I have debated about getting a regular piano but have decided on a keyboard instead.

We are thinking of spending about $1000 or so but could go higher if need be. This purchase will last for at least 10 years if not much longer so something that she will be able to live with as she gets older and her skill level increases.

So what brands and models would you suggest? What bells and whistles can she live without and which ones should we be looking out for in a keyboard? What brands and models should we be staying away from?
