KeymasterSo I’m assembling a basic FAK pouch to compliment my EDC kit and I’m having trouble choosing the bag/pouch/container to hold it. I’m adverse to things on my belt as all they seem to do is get in the way. My pockets are currently stuffed with other EDC kit so putting it in there is kinda pointless. Whatever it is, it’ll probably live in whatever bag I’m carrying that day (Mostly my backpack).
I did consider going with an altoids tin or a tobacco tin, the problem being that blister packs of pills actually take up a lot more space than you would think. A pack of Asprin, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol (Acetaminophen for the Americans), Benadryl, Immodium, Sudafed, Loratadine, Day/Night nurse and Cold And Flu will have a small tin stuffed to bursting. Then add in Tape, plasters (bandaids) Melolin, basic dressings, a small tube of Sudocrem, a tin of Vaseline and a couple of feminine hygiene products and you’ve got quote a bundle.
I thought about the Maxpedition Mini organizer but I think that’ll be too small, so then it either comes to the Fatty or the Beefy but I’m not 100% sure that even they are big enough. I was wondering what other people, who might have more comprehensive kits, might be using.
I suppose I shouldn’t really call it a FAK, it’s more of a general health kit. I can help someone who’s put a nail through their hand or scuffed their knee or had a heart attack but the kit’s also for situations like getting to work and realizing that my hayfever’s acting up or that I’ve got a headache coming.
But still, sorry for rambling, thoughts? Recommendations? Comments?
