It has been getting dark earlier and earlier here and our 2 year old foster child has been feeling increasingly housebound. So on Monday I had the epiphany to break out our flashlights and embrace the darkness — which we have now done every night since and become part of our evening routine. So after supper and bible reading we bundled up; and him rocking my Fenix AA E11 and me, my Nitecore EC25 (cobra) we headed out into the dark. He thoroughly loved using the ‘Flah-Light’ and could hardly pry it from his little hands when we were done. I thoroughly loved watching him and sharing the moment with him. And so what, that his beam control was slightly erratic and he worked the clicky at times like a strobe. Perhaps we have a young edc’er in the making?
While I have been a long time edc’er and love talking about the gear and the utility of said gear… it is pretty cool when our hobby can have a relational element to it and be able to share it with those we care about.
Well, I gotta put the little guy to sleep.
Cheers
