KeymasterI purchased one of these guys last week, and after a mix up thanks to the geniuses at USPS, got it in my hands on Thursday evening right before I left for class and a mini-vacation to Williamsburg, VA.
Its main use is to allow you to discretely carry things in your pockets and have them always be in the same place instead of floating around. At the same time it doesn’t allow the outline of the object to be seen from the front of your pocket and give away what you’re carrying. It can be used for knives, guns, pepper spray, pens, etc.Right before I left for class Thursday I attached the sheath with the included hardware (total of 4 sets of screws and backers of various lengths) seen in the upper left threw it in my jeans pocket and then sat down for more-or-less 5 hours. Didn’t notice it at all in my pocket, it carried much better than when it was just floating around in my pocket. In fact I feel like it made it easier to get to my money clip or anything else that was in my front jeans pocket over the weekend.
All I’ve been carrying on it is the Enyo (the folder and pen are for illustration) and I have it positioned so that the top of the knife sticks out of my pocket a little. So far it is more or less the same as carrying a folder. Thanks to the rounded points seen at the top of the shield it doesn’t come out of your pocket when you draw something, but will slide up and down and side to side a bit as you move through out the day. My only complaint with it is that it sometimes takes 2 hands to re-sheath, but in my book that’s not a huge deal.
I will try and keep this updated as I continue to use the pocket shield. I was skeptical the first time I saw one, but surprisingly it is pretty comfortable and so far does what it is advertised to do. We’ll see if it continues to perform…
