KeymasterIt was like Christmas coming home today having two packages side by side waiting for me.
Simple secure packaging for the Emerson and some band aids included. Gave me a good laugh.
Packaging for the WorkChamp came a little messed up but the knife was fine.
First up the EDC-1
The thing that struck me when first feeling the multi tool is the solid feeling of quality. Cant explain it but I just enjoyed having it in my hand.
I found the blade opens smoothly and locks into place solid with no movement in any direction. I could do one hand opening right or left handed. But easier left handed with the other tools folded away gives more distance to the knife and which for me makes it easier to get my thumb in the right position.
Again nice solid lock for all the tools with no play. A very nice length for reach of the flat head and locks in two positions.
The pointiest awl I have ever owned. Plenty useful for many things I think I just need to be careful not to be to rough with that tip for breaking off.
When I first opened the flat head I thought this thing was going to useless. Giving it a test run on one of my doors it gives a very solid connection to the phillips screw. Ended up very impressed.
This tool reminds me of the batman throwing stars. Even though it is very thin it has a very solid feeling like you could do some serious prying on it. And gave the wrench feature a test on few bolts around the home and works with no slipping. A fine piece all by itself.
All in all very happy with this tool. Since it is not in production anymore this will get light use though for the weekends.
And here we have my first SAK tool. First impressions is a very nice quality tool which seeing pictures I always thought it had a cheap look to them in the photos I have seen.
The little pliers I do not see any use for them but I am sure I might find one in the future.
A little annoying but no big deal is you have to lift the pliers up to get to the Phillips head. And the phillips is a little short but since it does not lock into place probably not a good idea to make it to long.
The file has a very high quality feel to it.
Very nice long saw blade and can only wish my SOG had one this long.
Again a little annoying that you have to lift scissors to get out the smaller phillips head. Scissors surprisingly very effective even on several layers of paper for my test.
Two different kinds of flat heads with different kinds of can openers, not much more to say. Except oddly the bigger flat secures into two positions for use. Strange they did that for tool but none of the others.
The micro screwdriver which will get plenty of use from adjusting glasses to tightening towel bars on walls. I do not hardly drink wine so being a holder for the micro screw driver will be its only use. And for the things I use the awl not sure it will be of much use for me the way they have it set up in the open position. But time will tell.
A view of the saw blade and file where they give you a nice little lip to easily get to them.
I had realized doing this review I had forgotten to take a photo of the nice long blade that locks securely into place. Oops! They did a really nice job sharpening that blade and easily passes the slicing through paper test.
Springy little tweezers that seem like they would be effective for multiple uses.
The tooth pick I just do not see any kind of use for it for me personally. Would love to know what other people use it for.
My plan was just to keep one and the other back but I have decided both are staying in my collection for weekend carry. And just maybe during the week for WorkChamp. Quality tools the both of them.
