I’m new here but really love it! I’ve been EDCing an Inreach which is a satellite communication device that does bi-directional texting. I keep it in a small pack along with extra power for my phone and some things like a lighter and knife.

The Inreach is cool because it attaches with bluetooth to my Galaxy S4 and has topographic maps too.

They have one that also has a screen, but mine doesn’t, it’s the smart phone model.

I hope this helps someone out. It’s great for hiking and for emergencies if the cell towers are down. I work near DC and the towers have failed during the earthquake a few years ago and during 9/11.
