I love my city (San Francisco), except for the incessant wind. Today on my walk home, my awesome Tilley urban fedora (urban means no dorky Tilley retention system) flew off my head and into a puddle of grime and cigarettes. I just washed and it looks like it will be fine, but I hate having to always reach for it at every gust. Since it’s very windy here much of the year, and that I walk almost everywhere (so need sun protection), I need to find a more stable hat. I have a bunch of great hats (mostly Outdoor Research and Tilley — for retention, I like the OR hats much more) that are functionally awesome, but the through-hiker aesthetic really sticks out in an urban setting. I’m no fashion hound, but enough of me wants to look less dorky to ask this community for help.
I know asking EDCForums is opening a can of worms, given the diverse concepts of style on these boardsĀ
, but I thought I’d give it a go. I’m mostly a jeans and sweater kind of guy, not the suit or tactical type. Any ideas?
