We have no tablets in our house just laptops and 2 iPhones

The Kids are saving up for iPad minis. Wife has been making birthday wish list noises.

Now Im thinking I may want something too to replace/supplement my 3yo MBPro and iPhone 5, and want advice. I could google or look on all the review sites but I like it here better.

I have at present
1. I hardly use my iPhone nowadays for calls, just for urgent calls, txts, email, photos and data – tapatalk/safari/a few apps and maybe a quick tower defence type game. Mainly on wifi or 500MB data/mth and as a quick wifi tether point for laptop when away on trips.
2. My MacbookPro is used at home for mainly wifi surfing, email.

I want
1. A mobile Word edit app & keyboard – Im thinking tablet & Word or Pages app & attachable KB??
2. A more portable home laptop like experience – tablet with KB
3. Able to fit in a cargo pants pocket if I need to – less than 7″ size.
4. A phone battery life of a 4-5days with wifi hotspot capability – like a smaller non-smart-phone

My questions to all you iPad / tablet owners:
1. Anyone have a similar configuration already and whats your thoughts?
2. Android tablet and iPad – Anyone own both? – is the experience similar (I have an s3-mini phone for work which is OK to use)
3. A tablet attachable keyboard – Any experiences / comments?
4. Word or Pages mobile apps – Anyone own / use them? Is the experience similar and any good?
