I cut the palm of my left hand the other day. It was a deep cut. Blood was squirting out like crazy. I had some band aids in my wallet which was in the left front pocket. I couldn’t get to it quickly because my left hand was bleeding. I didn’t have anything else with me. I put the left hand up and used the right hand to apply direct pressure on the cut for about 3 minutes. When I tried to remove the right hand, it was glued to the left hand by (I guess) the dried blood. I yanked the right hand away and that opened up the cut again. The left hand was bleeding all over again. At least this time I was next to the medicine cabinet.

Because of this incidence I have decided to carry some rolling gauze on me. I still don’t know where to put so I can access with it either hand. If I ever cut myself like this again, I can grab the gauze, open the package with one hand and teeth, apply direct pressure with gauze, then close/dress the gauze in place.

    1. Please offer your suggestions for improvements. Thanks.

    2. Also, when does one clean the wound or apply the antibiotic stuff? It seems to me you can’t clean or apply anything while the wounding is open and bleeding. After it heals, how long should you wait before touching it? wouldn’t touching it too soon open it up again? Thanks.
