OK, let’s just get this out of the way: I hate Velcro. With a passion. If I were Emperor Of The World I’d banish it from existence. The whole noisy, dirt-trapping, scratchy lot of it.
Don’t even try to argue with me on this point!
Now, to my question: I’m looking for cargo pants that DO NOT use Velcro to secure the pocket flaps. Buttons or snaps are just fine. I’ve been wearing Riggs Ranger pants for more than a decade, and was generally happy with them, but the last ones I bought shrunk horribly (and I swear shrink a little more with every wash.) Reading some online reviews confirms that I’m not the only one with this complaint – seems they’ve changed their fabric. Time to try something else!
So, who besides Riggs makes non-tactical (i.e., *not* BDUs) cargo pants that don’t rely on Velcro to hold the pockets shut? I’m looking for something that I can wear to a movie or a restaurant without looking like a Tactical Timmy; in fact, what I want is more of a hiking appearance.
