W E Fairbairn, founder of the Shanghai Riot Squad ( the original SWAT team), co- designer of the famed Fairbairn-Sykes Commando Knife ( now part of the SAS logo badge), CQC trainer in WW II for SOE/ OSS, also designed a swagger stick. It was sometimes known as a “Faircane”. 22.5″ long. Made of stacked leather washers on a full length steel core. It had a brass barrel shaped pommel, followed by a handle section shaped like the F S Knife handle, and a leather wrist thong. The steel tip was semi-sharp and around 2.5″ long. Google “Fairbairn Swagger Stick” for pictures. I have long tried various auction/ memorabilia/ history sites to buy one ( for display). No luck! Anyone know where I can buy one or commission a maker to build one or more, maybe even a longer, walking stick version?
