KeymasterI remember when the Kimber Pro Covert II first came out. I absolutely loved it but the sticker shock was too much for me and my wallet.
As the old saying goes “Patience is a virtue.” I visited a local Pawn Shop yesterday…low and behold a beautiful Kimber Pro Covert II was sitting on the shelf next to a High Point, a Llama, and a Jennings. It stood out like a sore thumb. Once again, the old sticker shock hit me. The Pawn Shop was asking $999. Granted, it was a $1400 gun when new and this one came with the original box and paperworks. That was still more than I was willing to pay. Ok…let the haggling begin. I gave it the old once over. I pointed out the smallest details and made them seem big. Thank God whoever sold it to them didn’t clean it. It was a bit dirty but nothing that couldn’t be fixed easily. It still boggles my mind why gun stores and pawn shops don’t take a few minutes to clean their used guns before they sell them.
By the time I was finished haggling, the price came down to $600 incl taxes and call in fee. If you’re not familiar with this model, it comes with Crimson Trace Digital Camo laser grips, front strap checkering, and meprolight night sights. This particular model included a 7 round flat bottom Kimber mag, a Kimber Tac Pro 8 round mag, and a Wilson Combat (47D?) 8 round mag.
Needless to say, I bought it for $600. I spent an hour cleaning it last night. She is GORGEOUS! I bought a Galco King Tuck Holster on clearance at Gander Mountain for it too. I wore it for a few hours last night and all day so far today. It feels little heavier than my Glock 30 but the King Tuck is doing a good job dispersing the weight pretty evenly on my right side.
I will take a range trip tomorrow and see how she fires. Will keep you posted.
Wish I could figure out the photo hosting and posting thing to show you how good she looks.
