Just a little bit of.. EDC theory I guess. I’m quite sure that most people here practice (preach?) the EDC philosphy; being prepared for as many situations as possible and if possible as light as possible. Please correct me if I’m wrong on that definition.

For keychains setups I’ve tried to run many options. IMO there are a few givens; a dangler or way of easily accessing your keys, a light, but more importantly there is a tool selection on your keychain. Personally, I’ve gone full circle on this one. I started with a Classic, got a Rambler, then several OPMT’s but just couldn’t handle the bulk/weight and now I’m back to my Micra. I am curious how everyone here thinks about this subject.

When you just take a look in the keychain pics topic I see that a lot of people are managing without the mutitools on the keychains but do opt for the indiviual tools. If you take for instance the Micra you have: Scissors, Pry tool, Drivers, Tweezers, Bottle opener.
Replacing all those tools with their individual counterparts just brings so much more weight and moreso bulk. At the same time, if you don’t carry the mini sak because you’re already carrying a larger multitool, why even bother with OPMTs? I can see an argument in beauty, but find it hard to justify beauty on my keychain that’s mostly in my pocket. And sometimes quality of the tools though I have to say, other than the bottle opener I feel like the quality of these min-MT’s is usually quite good, especially as a backup for a larger MT.
