No I wouldn’t ever engage an animal unless there was no other choice.
This is totally hypothetical, I’m not looking for gun recommendations for defense against large animals.

In the news this week it was reported that a mountain lion was spotted in our area in the middle of town. I was taking care of a couple of errands after dark in a residential area and my imagination began to run away with me, what would I do if the big cat prowled into view (I realize I’d probably never see the cat coming if it was stalking me..). Could my little Sig P250 with 12 rounds of hollowpoint give any chance at all considering the following: 1. I’m not the world’s best shot. 2. The cat might be doing mach 2 by the time I see it. 3. Its night time and I’d have to consider what’s behind the cat before firing 😛

Again this is all hypothetical, it was just one of the times where I felt quite undergunned even with 12 rounds… 😀
