I need to get a multitool for a backpacking trip to the big island of Hawaii, Europe, and New Zealand (among other places I may go).

I’m leaning towards the Charge TTi, since it seems the best overall, based on the research I’ve done. I’ve never owned a “real” multitool though, so I’m hoping for some honest (i.e. “non-egoic”) advice.

Do you think the Charge TTi is the best choice for something like a “backpacking multitool”? If so, why? And if not, what’s better and why?

I understand there are at least 2 versions of the Charge TTi, and some think the older one’s better. Is it still possible to purchase the older model, and should I go for that version?

Is the model number for the older one: 830864? I found 830684 at Amazon. So did he just make a typo and switch the 8 and the 6?
