KeymasterTitle has it, really, but here are the details:
My main light is an HDS 200 Tac, with default programming: on-to and momentary High. My backup is a Maratac Cu single AAA. Any other light I own sees only occasional use and I’ve only got one other CR123. That one is still on its first battery after a couple of years. None of this is likely to change.
Because the HDS does get a lot of use, starts on high and blinks at me when it can no longer get full power out of a cell I end up swapping batteries from it long before the batteries are discharged. The partials end up in the corner of shelf, slowly forming little dust colonies that are threatening to unionize and vote me out.
Now I don’t want to just throw money at this or buy-just-to-buy, but I thought I’d check and see if anyone had some suggestions for using these up.
I guess I could maybe find some use for a larger light around the house, or kept in an EDC bag, or the car. I know there are some 3xCR123s, I think Fenix made/makes a 6x. No idea on cost on those and that’s likely to clear 3 or 4 or whatever off the shelf and wait forever while it gets next to no use. Grabbing the HDS is just pure auto-pilot. If someone knows of some sort of camera flash style tac light or battery powered flashbang that would just dump as much power as I gave it a few times I could get behind that (something I probably would buy-just-to-buy).
I’m fine with non-light solutions, too, but the only other product I can really think of that uses the things are cameras, and I’m full up there.
Ideas?
