I always carry a black Surge or black ST300 in a standard nylon sheath on my belt, alongside my keys, but I’ve been carrying a Wingman on my left side, using the belt clip.
What I like about the Wingman is the way it opens – spring activated – and the spring loaded pliers, and the external blade, and the fact that it has scissors.
What I don’t like is the flimsiness of the pliers. I can move the tips side to side by about 2mm. I have never been able to do that with any other Leatherman I have ever had. My Surge isĀ tight, and I meanĀ tight. Both of my ST tools are also very tight. There’s actually not even a 0.000000001mm of play.
So, the Wingman is crap by comparison. But it has a belt clip. And scissors. And an external blade. Cool!
So I looked around at the Leatherman site, to see what else would suit me. The Charges are nice. You can put a belt clip on them, and one of them has scissors.
The best tool on the list, by far, is the OHT. I like the spring loaded pliers and one-hand-open tools. It has no scissors, but it makes up for that with other cool tools. But it has no belt clip, and it’s not compatible with the accessory belt clip that is offered for the Charge, Surge, and Wave.
I’m considering the Charge TTi now. It looks like the closest to what I want.
