Surfing Amazon and this sight is dangerous. I have a Fenix E05 on my keychain, and it comes in very handy and has been bright enough for all I’ve used it. I wanted a slightly larger light to keep in my nightstand for home protection and also potentially use or mounting for varmint hunting. Anyway, I ended up choosing the Olight M20SX. Reviews were good, I liked the mode button on the side and I can get different colored lenses for varmint hunting. In my research, I also found a brand that I hadn’t come across, but looked decent. It’s the Guard Dog Halo 290. Upon opening the boxes, the packaging on both was impressive, although the Olight was a bit nicer since it came with a plastic carry case and the GD came with a strong cardboard case with a magnetic closer. I haven’t had the opporunity to put either into use, but they both seem very substantial. I also bought a Maglite set at Walmart last weekend. It came with 2D and 2AA LED lights for $30. I know that there’s not a lot of love for the Mag’s, but I like the set.
