KeymasterIntroduction
First off, I’ve never really done a review before, so this may ramble on a bit and may be a bit biased towards my usage as not experienced enough with this type of bag to be truly objective. Also, I may well end up talking about things most of you are all too familiar with and probably don’t need it repeating, but there is also the possibility that same complete novice stumbles across this and needs it all explained.I’ve never had a sling-type bag before but have liked the idea of them. I’m more used to rucksacks and messenger bags. Unless I’ve got a heavy load in my rucksack, I’ll always carry it on a single strap so I thought “why not try a slingbag?”
I originally looked at the Vanquest Javelin, but due to being in the U.K., this bag is very difficult to get hold of. I still like it and may consider it in the future, but it’s just a bit too hard to get hold of.
Then I heard of the 5.11 Triab 18, and after looking at it and reading – and watching – some reviews, I thought I’d take the plunge.
Shopping around I managed to find one for £103, but just before I paid that, I found one on eBay for £100 including the 5.11 Brokos belt and a 5.11 Tactical TDU belt, all brand new. This was too good an opportunity to pass up so I bought them.
Don’t expect to see this kind of deal very often, so if you want all of them, expect to pay quite a bit more for the Brokos.
As I’ve got all three and don’t have any plans (yet) to use the Brokos and the TDU separately, I’ll also review them here from the perspective of accessories to the Triab 18.
I’ve split this review into sections so as to make it a bit easier for me to group together my comments.
