I discovered today why I see unfinished lowers for sale, apparently you can finish milling the gun yourself and legally own it… no registration or anything of the sort. Pretty cool I say! Especially after I-594 has passed here in Washington… *insert pent up frustration here*
My understanding is that you can not sell —or even give away— such a gun after building it, correct? It seems silly to not be able to sell a gun if you can build and own it, I see the reasoning but would expect there must be some kind of way to meet such a basic demand…
Heres why I ask:
I plan on building a AR15 as soon as possible with a 80% lower then a 1911 if that goes well! If I wanted to give a friend or family member gun made this way, would I have to make them mill the last 20% them selves to stay legal? Sure I could give it to them and get away with it, but thats not what Im looking to do.
Input, experience, Ideas? I am dying to know more about this, cant believe I am just learning about it!
