Playing around with a paracord lanyard for my renewed Streamlight Microstream (apparently misplaced my previous one on a commuter train), I (probably re-)created a design where the ends of the paracord are not near either of the ends of the lanyard, so it can loosen or unravel or untie from the ends without loosening the knots.

I start with a length of paracord doubled, and tie the two strands around themselves in a simple knot, which sizes the loop on the right. At about a third of the distance of the remaining paracord, I loop the strands back around something (here a Nite-Ize micro-S-carabiner from their Big Ring) and start a cobra stitch. When the cobra stitch meets the first simple knot, I feed the ends back under the weave. (My favorite tool to grab and pull paracord is a curved hemostat plier I got from Orvis as “Power Jaws Forceps”.)
