While shopping for a few items at Office Depot, I came across the Salter Bricknell PB-500. A compact (5″ x 3″ x 1″) yet accurate scale at a decent price had eluded me for a while, but no more. The PB-500 lists for $150, but Office Depot had them for $69.99. Their website, however, doesn’t list it.

Using a 4-lb set of U.S. Standard calibrated weights, I put together the following chart:

Since I don’t have calibrated weights for the other units, I used conversion factors from EasyCalculation to check gm, ozt, & dwt accuracy.

The PB-500 can be calibrated using a 200 gm standard weight. Note that the 7 oz (198.4 gm), which is highlighted in light green, is dead on for 3 of the four units of measure.

A maximum error of -0.025 oz for $70!
