I am in the middle of rebuilding an old Sheridan (Racine, Wis) Blue Streak in .20 cal / 5mm. Needs a rear sight or a scope mount.. not sure what I want to do yet..Click to expand…
My Uncle Bob owned the Sheridan company. The factory was named for the street it was located on in Racine. One of my fondest memories was getting a private tour of the plant when I was about 12 or 13 in 1968.
I had one of the air rifles, my best friend (who also owned a Sheridan) and I would ride our bikes to the San Joaquin River(about 2 miles or so) and shoot at coots.
As I recall, we never did manage to hit anything but it sure was fun.
Your picture brought back good memories. I wonder what happened to that rifle.December 27, 2025 at 12:51 pm #143055admin

Those are nice looking pics. Canadian Tire had a few Crosmans on sale last week – $100 off. I got excited and hit the net to research them only to find out Canadian Tires discounted price is everyone else’s regular price! I won’t be buying an air rifle from them!
Yup, that’s about right. I bought a multi tool on an impulse buy, found out I paid twice what others are charging for it, so I returned it, got a better one someplace else. They just don’t really know what their stuff is worth. I’ve seen stuff go for way less than it should as well, but those things usually go fast. Also their other stores (atmosphere, sportchek) are over priced.Back on topic here, remember Canadian pellet guns shoot slower than their American counterparts. I hear the classic daisy is pretty good, for the price point, and I personally used a (discontinued) Crosman backpacker. It was a pump action that broke down to fit in a backpack. Never killed with it (didnt try) but it shot pretty consistant. Wish I still had it. I think they have an updated version now.

I wish it was still 1968 and I was down at the river with ya… my fondest memories are with one of these with peep sights… before I became super cool and got a 2 x 20 scope! LOL..December 27, 2025 at 12:51 pm #143057admin

Anyone have a suggestion for a nice, overbuilt pump rifle for plinking empty soda and bean cans? I shoot at a range of 10-20 yards, prefer iron sights and would like a solid wood stock.
Maybe a Crosman Heritage 2260. They are CO2 though
There is also the Classic 2100 and the Benjamin 392. Both are pumpDecember 27, 2025 at 12:51 pm #143058admin

Thanks. That Benjamin 397 (.177 cal) is just what I was looking for.December 27, 2025 at 12:51 pm #143059admin
KeymasterYesterday i bought my first two CO2 hand gun. A beretta storm replica and a vigilente CO2 crosman. I also bought 10 target sheet, 1500 bb’s + pellets small box, lub tube, 3 speed loader for the crosman and two pack of 5 CO2 cartridge.
When i was younger i also got a long riffle crosman pump 760, bolt action + 8 pump shot.
I don’t got firearm. I’ved shot several clay pigeon with a .12 (not mine).
I like aim and shot with pellets.December 27, 2025 at 12:51 pm #143060admin
Keymaster#1 on my most wanted list. Benjamin Bulldog .357. Unfortunately its price is up there as well as the start-up equipment if you do not already have it. However, having an air rifle that can take down large game while producing less noise than a .22lr is just too awesome.

KeymasterI have a gamo break barrel air rifle. Not sure the model number, but I love that thing! I used to use it very frequently for plinking in my back yard ages ago when I still lived at home. It gave me the fun of shooting without having to hit the range. I found it extremely accurate – I was able to headshot green army men from a couple hundred feet away with a 2-7 power chinese made scope. These days my yard isn’t really ideal for shooting it because it’s too short, and although I can use the green space behind and beside my house, it’s a bit iffy given that it’s a common area of the strata.
The nice thing about a well made air rifle is that it’s excellent practice of marksmanship fundamentals. Because the “lock time” is fairly long, and there’s a significant weight shift at least for piston air guns, your fundamentals need to be very good otherwise they are extremely unforgiving. I always shot gamo .177 wadcutter pellets out of mine with excellent results.
Piston air guns can also be very rough on scopes because of the weird vibration they have when firing. I discovered recently that the reticle in my coptics now freely spins with the focus adjustment lol oops. Perhaps some loctight or something will help.

KeymasterJust bought a couple of air rifles. A Hatsan Model 95 Vortex .22 for me, and a Daisy Buck for my 5 year old son. We are having lots of fun target shooting together, and we’ll be rabbit hunting together soon!

KeymasterAs my username suggests I’m a huge air gun fan. Getting involved in Field Target shooting years ago opened my eyes to a whole new level of air guns. Started with Air Arms S400s, S410s and before I knew it I was competing with an Air Arms EV2 shod with a Nikko Diamond 10-50 scope. Hunter class was shot with a Weirauch HW 100 Carbine shod with a Bushnell Elite scope. Once I had kids and took a big step in my career my time to compete dried up so sitting on $5000 or so of air gun stuff was no longer justifiable.
I now keep a Logun Solo with a decent scope on it for impromptu plinking, pesting, and Hunter class FT. One day when more free time becomes available I’ll be back competing at FT matches with whatever Air Arms or Steyr fits me best.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

KeymasterBig fan of airguns here, i have a weirauch hw50 ( currently looking for a good scope to play in the hunter FT category ) and several ( i should say many ) CO2 pistols and revolvers, shooting both pellets and bbs. For now i only shoot for fun, plinking is great 🙂 no hunting with air rifle in France

KeymasterI used to own a FX Cyclone pre pneumatic air rifle in 22 cal. It shot well and was so freaking accurate. Then I had problems with the seals and it would not hold a charge. A $1000 air rifle and it choked from a speck of dust. I got it fixed and sold it a few years ago. A year ago I got a Benjamin 392 pump air rifle. It’s not a target rifle but more a hunting rifle. When I first took it out to the range to sight it in, at the end of the day my arm was fatigued and sore from pumping the beast. I also have a limited edition model of the Benjamin air rifle, the LE392. This one has a scope rail and I’ve got a Nikon Prostaff EFR rimfire scope mounted on it. Maybe one day I’ll get another pre pneumatic air rifle but the old school Benjamin 392 rifle is fine for now.
