Some time ago I began sharpening my pencils with a blade and discovered that I really like writing with pencils that have a “flat” point. Having two corners to write with gives me a fine line for longer than a regular point and by putting the flat edge against the paper, I can achieve some neat line variation in my writing, similar to what I get with my stub fountain pens. I find myself using the corners for writing numbers and the flat edges for writing words.

Has anyone else experimented with less traditional point shapes?
