I am usually a very skeptical person. That being said, I did some research, spoke to some people more knowledgeable than me, and did my own testing on ammo that was new in my area. I have to say that I am very pleased with the results.

The ammo that I’m talking about is called Liberty Civil Defense ammo. I bought 5 boxes of .45 and 5 boxes of 9 mm. You won’t believe how light this ammo is or how big the cavity is of the hollow point.

The .45 acp is 78 grains and according to the box (exceeds 1900 FPS) What? Yes, over 1900 FPS!!! From a .45 WOW!!!

The 9 mm is 50 grains and according to the box (exceeds 2000 FPS) again I say What? Yes over 2000 FPS!!! Who need an FN 5.7 now?

    I don’t own a chronograph so I enlisted a buddy that does.

I shot 5 rounds of .45 acp with my Kimber Eclipse 1911 and all 5 were over 1900 FPS.

I shot 5 rounds of 9 mm with my Glock 17 and all 5 were over 2000 FPS.

I went to a local meat shop and asked if they had any expired hams for me to use for testing (score – got 2 hams).

I shot the hams with hollow point ammo and they moved a little and the bullets went through them.

I shot the hams with the Civil Defense ammo and the hams jumped off of the 2 x 4’s and pieces of ham exploded (huge wound channels).

I tested the ammo in my other carry guns and they cycled without any problems. They have just entered the lineup.

Not sure if this is psychological or not but the Civil Defense ammo sounded louder to me than the normal hollow points.
