Art Store Visit – FaberCastell and Parker impressions.

I visited a large Art Supply store today. I checked out several reasonably priced fine pens
I always wondered about..namely Faber Castell EMotion and Parker IM and Urban. Some impressions;

a.) The Faber Castell Emotion ballpoints and pencils. They had the entire range; wood bodies and
plastic/composite bodies. I like the weight and shape of the pens..the extreme taper was nice to write with. I did not like that the internal threads holding the nose on were plastic. The twist mechanism also ..was afraid to twist it too much.

b.) Parker IM Premier Ballpoint in smoke grey; I was really surprise how light the pen was..It turned
out to be all plastic threads inside..I was concerned also the body was plastic with a metal covering.

c.) The Parker Urban Premier Ballpoint. It had plastic threads on the nose but the body appeared to have metal threads. Very surprised how light it felt.

In the end I left with a Pentel Graphgear 1000 to replace my son’s broken one. From my visit I would conclude the Parker Jotter represents a better/durable construction then either the IM or Urban.. very surprised. The E Motion pens were not that cheap.metal internals would have made them worth the price.
