I tend to carry everything PLUS the kitchen sink when I travel (work, car, EDC, and even backpacking.) I have not been camping much in the last 12 years or so, but my son is now in BSA (don’t even get started on the most recent changes, please!) and I am restocking my gear and getting things ready for me and for him for the trails.

We both have good FAKs, but I tend to carry more than I probably need. (I know – you can never predict, etc.) but I also want to conserve space and weight if possible.

My other (opposite end of the spectrum, I know) is that I LOVE having things in hard cases like this. My fire kit is in a small Pelican 1010 case: protected, waterproof, etc. I would love to do the same thing with my FAK kit BUT I also have a growing obsessions with ORANGE in camping. Don;t have any idea why, but I would love to have this (especially this FAK) in a hard case (does not need to be Pelican) that is orange.

So – on your marks, set, GO!

    Sproles
