Looking at my boots, there are two pairs that strike me as good for “any condition.”. This of course include casual where a full on 9-12in leather boot would be out of place.
One is a danner 453 hiking boot, the other is a red wing waterproof/leather alloy toe work boot. The red wing is “hard rock leather” with a pavement based sole, and the danner is nubuck and gore-tex with a “approach Tec” outsole.
For general everyday mid west conditions, especially in winter, which would be your choice for casual or daily wear? What about outdoor oriented wear? I suspect the red wing to be more durable due to less seams in the upper, but it’s a cemented construction where the fanned combines cement and stitching…..
